The
Underground Rebels debut 5 song EP reminds me of a light mix of
Buckcherry, Blackfish, Pop Punk and classic rock. The tempos,
phrasings and sounds are very modern but seem to be too laid
back as if they are holding back on purpose. Even with the
volume turned up, this is the vibe that comes across. This EP
very well may be one that requires multiple listens before the
bite catches you. The most immediate song on the disc is “Down
Anymore” which is very hook-laiden. Closing track “Rewind”
hints at Blackfish with a 2005 vibe. Overall, a rather
different EP from a band that I would believe comes across much
heavier in a live setting.
