TWILIGHT ODYSSEY
The Sorcerer Sessions Vol. 1
Self-financed Release |

Twilight Odyssey describe themselves as a power
progressive band hailing from Brooklyn, NY. The progressive
elements are more in terms of technical proficiency based around
80's metal influences such as Iron Maiden and Chastain. This
is not progressive in the vein of InsideOut America bands, although
they do cite Symphony X as an influence.
Twilight Odyssey definitely reminds me at times of Chastain, Hawaii,
Malisha, Deathslayer and Flight Of The Griffin in terms of song
structure and raw sound. Vocalist Pamela Berlinghof has a
multi-dimensional style that can go from straight-ahead power metal
vocals to the extreme edge vocal style often used by King Diamond
and James Rivera (Helstar, Seven Witches) especially on the track
"Into The Lair". Guitarists Ben Asaro and Dan Castro fire off
riffs on this track that recall Hawaii's "One Nation Underground"
release.
The maturity of the band in terms of their eerie compositions is
what impressed me the most. Instead of taking the easy way out
and following the template of a band like Stratovarius (which has
been continually done), Twilight Odyssey reach within themselves to
record a demo that is unlike most any other metal band in 2003.
The band will be appearing at Metal Meltdown, the Classic Metal Fest
and Milwaukee Metal this year.
Track listing:
1. The Endless Days of a Stranger (4:30)
2. Into the Lair (5:20)
3. Onward to the Games (6:33)
