The Beauty Of The Swamp |

The Beauty Of The
Swamp by Theoadore Muddfoot was an absolute pleasure for me to
listen to as soon as lead singer Georgia Faith’s vocals emerged
above the crickets in the murky waters leading into the opening
track “No More”. According to the band biography Faith has a 5
octave range and she certainly puts it to good use throughout the
disc especially on the tack “My Silence”. At almost 6:30 minutes,
“My Silence” is an ominous power ballad that builds gradually, and
Faith’s emotive vocals pour through the speakers with a haunting
beauty.
“Warrior” is a power metal blast that assaults the senses with
piercing vocals, all the while held together by the steady back end
provided by Red (drums) and Amanda Williamson (bass).
Guitarist Ian Rose is to be commended for having an excellent guitar
sound and an individualistic style. I would assume the band had a
limited budget to work with but the overall ambience of the CD is
quite powerful, yet retaining the hungry edge of an independent
release.
Theoadore Muddfoot's "The Beauty Of The Swamp" is a definite for
fans of early to mid 1980’s female fronted independent metal bands
such as Blacklace and Chastain. The closest band I can even compare
Theoadore Muddfoot to is Deathslayer, who featured Sue Hearts on
vocals (Their songs appeared on both the "New York Metal ’84" and
"Iron Tyrants" compilations).
