SLAVE GOAT

Slave Goat is a rather eclectic hard rock / heavy metal band from the North Coast area, otherwise known as Cleveland, OH.  According to their press release the band was formed in 2001 and recorded their debut disc "Payback" in 2003.  On this self-titled disc, Slave Goat explores a range of moods and emotions.  Elements of Voivod seem to have penetrated the opening track "SOYG" with its eclectic sound.  "Pulling Daisies" has almost a cosmic vibe to it sounding like a cross between Tool and mid 70's German obscure progressive rockers Jane.  "Where I've Been" is a straight-ahead rock track with 70's influences similar to Black Sabbath in the guitar department and structure.  The interplay between the guitars and organ on "Curse" are excellent in a style along the lines of the Flower Kings.  Closing track "Spray The Sky" seemingly brings together many of the previously mentioned sounds and styles for an excellent closing track.  For a seemingly young group of musicians, Slave Goat really draws some interesting influences together for an impressive 2nd release.
