GUARDIANS OF TIME |
 |

|
Melodic power metal from Norway, Guardians Of Time draw comparisons
to such bands as Hammerfall and Gamma Ray. Having parted ways
with the Shark Records label, Guardians Of Time is shopping for a
new recording deal.
On the lead track "Guardians Of Time", the Hammerfall influence is
most notable with vocalist Bernt Fjellstad sounding like a disciple
of Jocaim Carims. Fjellstad's screams can at times bring to
mind Rob Halford as well.
Musically, tracks like "Sail Away" fall into the German melodic
speed metal trap sounding a bit too much like many others bands.
While the musicianship on this track is of a high caliber, you feel
as if you have heard this song many times before by numerous bands.
Fortunately, this 4 song demo possesses a secret weapon that could
very well get the band a new recording deal. "The Journey" is
a new song that stands out over the other 3 tracks on the CD which
appeared on their debut album "Edge Of Tomorrow". Epic in
content, "The Journey" assaults your senses with a full power
instrumentation and a vocal track by Bernt Fjellstad that is
reminiscent of Tony Harnell on TNT's "Knights Of The New Thunder"
release. This enraged, high speed track should definitely be
shopped to labels as the "crucial cut" on this disc. If the
band continues to write new material of this magnitude, Guardians Of
Time may very well have a label bidding war on their hands.
