FORGOTTEN TALES

Hailing from the Canadian Province of Quebec,
Forgotten Tales is a symphonic power metal in the vein of Blind
Guardian, Rhapsody and Stratovarius. The difference being
that Forgotten Tales utilizes an extremely talented female lead
vocalist in Sonia Pineault. Sonia sites Darby Mills of the
Headpins as an influence. While she does not use the evil shrill
Darby is legendary for, Sonia stamps her own classical and jazz
influenced vocalizations on these tracks.
"Cold Heart" features subdued, intricate instrumentation that soon
opens up into a symphonic speed metal song that meshes well with
Sonia's ability to hit the hushed tones as easily as the faster
high-registered notes. The initially acoustic driven "Far
Away" develops into a dramatic, heart-felt power ballad of dealing
with the enduring pain of loss.
The four part finale "The Tale Of Neeris" is an epic trip into the
mind of a woman dealing with the effects of war on herself and loved
ones.
Frederick Desroches keyboards intertwine with the guitars of
Martin Desharnais to build complex structures. Sonia's
emotive vocal delivery tells the story with a believable, passionate
urgency.
For an independent release, Forgotten Tales has recorded a CD on par
with most major metal label discs. Any one of the labels could
easily release this CD without any additional track work being done.
