Motorhead
25 & Alive:  Boneshaker
SPV USA

Motorhead celebrated their 25th anniversary in London at Brixton Academy on October 22, 2000 by performing a concert that turned out to be the core footage for their latest DVD “25 & Alive: Boneshaker”.  The show covers a diverse cross-section of their illustrious career featuring 23 songs and surprise guest appearances.

This version of Motorhead has been together for about a decade and is a tight unit…Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mickey Dee are running on all cylinders and make a great deal of beautiful noise for a 3-piece band.  It is great to see and hear tracks like “The Chase Is Better Than The Catch”, “No Class” and “Damage Case” which after 20 years still sound as snarling and relevant as when they were released.  “Orgasmatron” and “Killed By Death”, with their forewarning drum beats blast off with powerful precision while “Ace Of Spades” and “Iron Fist” find Lemmy’s snarl to be as venomous as ever.

No anniversary party would be complete without some special guests.  The list of music luminaries for this evening included Brian May (Queen), Doro Pesch (Warlock), Fast Eddie Clarke (Motorhead, Fastway) and Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe who toured with Motorhead and Ozzy in 1992).

There are 2 music videos included;  Motorhead’s cover of the Sex Pistols “God Save The Queen” and the graphically disturbing “Sacrifice”… a video which would serve as a death blow to MTV’s TRL if ever shown!  Also featured is video footage from Wacken Open Air Festival 2001 and
the DVD also features the history of Motorhead, which Lemmy so eloquently narrates with his dry sense of humor.
