UNCHAINED
Unchained
Sound Riot Records

Unchained hails from Sweden, has an obvious affection for the likes of Iron Maiden, Tad Morose, early Savatage and perhaps Artch, and are a rather entertaining listen.

Opening up with My Guide, one gets the feeling the Unchained has been waiting years to record this track as it comes off very hungry in their attack.  Ghost Of The Alchemic Hall sounds like it could have been recorded by modern day Jag Panzer.  Theater Of Fear has a bit of a Savatage bite to it.

Unchained offers up a change of pace on the ballad I Dream which showcases the bands ability to harmonize quite nicely.  The Great Witch is pure early 90's Iron Maiden pre Blaze.  Closing track Seventh Sin (not Son!) is solid closing track of straight ahead metal.

Obviously, this is not the greatest release we have ever reviewed and it is far, far from the worst we have ever reviewed (see Smeer for that honor!).  Nevertheless, Unchained offers up a good debut that could use more tracks in the vein of My Guide and perhaps a bit more in the way of catchy melodies that particular song possesses.
