AS I LAY DYING
Frail Words Collaspe
Metal Blade

In the same league with their labelmates The Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying is another band to add to the growing list of Gothenburg influenced death metal bands forming in the United States.  "Frails Words Collapse" contains elements of blast beat nu-metal ala recent In Flames and hardcore passages as well which are interwoven with melodic guitar lines.

Vocalist Tim does the ability to sing well using clean vocals but choosing to stick mainly with screaming throughout the CD (although "Forever" does display his vocal prowess).  Tracks such as "A Thousand Steps", "Falling Upon Deaf Ears" and "Distance Is Darkness" however prove that As I Lay Dying are much more about extreme metal than attempting any kind of power metal romp.

As subtle as a kick to the ribs, "Frail Words Collapse" is much more likely to please the mallcore crowd that your meat and potatoes heavy metal fan.
