SYMPHORCE
Godspeed
Metal Blade

The ever-prolific Andy B. Franck has become what David T. Chastain was to the 80's;  a man who seem to always have new material coming out or working with another band.  "Godspeed" is the latest release from Symphorce and it once again shows what killer power can sound like.

"Everlasting Life" sounds like it could be a missing track from Queensryche's "Operation:  Mindcrime".  It is an absolutely wicked track that has the feel of the long lost Tate / DeGarmo magic.  "No Shelter" is pure Symphorce magic that could be comparable to the likes of melodic Nevermore and Evergrey.  "Haunting" is another punishing track with a certain Nevermore feel, but possessing more melody.

"Black Water" heads into a bit of experimental territory similar to where Judas Priest lurked during Ripper Owens' tenure.  "Without A Trace" is a straight-ahead intense metal track that would be at home up against an Iron Savior or Gamma Ray song.  "The Mirrored Room" has somewhat of a creepy feel to it and is rather unique track.  Finishing song is the moody "Crawling Walls For You" which is well-placed at the end of the disc and feature a mellower aura throughout.

In my opinion, Symphorce is currently by far the best band in terms of musical talent and creativity on the Metal Blade.  Once again Franck and company have crafted a challenging and enjoy disc that stretches the boundaries of the power metal genre.
